A Good Day

I didn’t get the job. You’d think I would be disappointed over it. I’m not and I’ll tell you why. The team lead in the interview had no patience for the process. You could hear in her voice that this was a perfunctory meeting that she wasn’t taking seriously because she already knew who she wanted to hire. In my company, as I’ve said before, this is normal and quite common. The team lead already has the candidate for promotion in mind, however they still take the time to interview all the qualified applicants. This gal was just awful. I’d play poker with her any day.

For real money. I have to add though, that the gal that did get the position is a perfect fit. I would have been less perfect after my respect for the team lead dropped after the interview. I would have found it difficult to put that meeting out of my mind completely. I had also managed to talk myself out of wanting to leave my comfy telecommuter position as winter comes nipping at our heels. Sarah, the gal who did get the position, will be a fabulous trainer and she will succeed admirably.

On to the Etsy shop! I made two more of the casket tag bracelets and put them in my shop with the thought that they would sell before Halloween. Wowsers, did they? Both sold Monday within a couple hours of each other. Bam! Gone. I have 5 more tags coming to me and I’m hoping they arrive today so I can replicate the success of the first two before the holiday is gone. I think there is a window for the success of such an item and this is the month for it. I hope both ladies love their new pretties.

My parents are concerned, as is most of the world, over how much of their retirement funds are going poof. That’s pretty much all that can be said eh? I’m not as concerned, I have over 25 yrs of working life to recover before I have to invest so much feeling into what my 401k is doing/not doing. My head is not in the sand over it, but investing a lot of negative emotion into something I can’t reverse by worrying is just a waste of time and perfectly good worry.

I’m still crocheting and enjoying the process. I need hand models to wear the mitts so I can take pics for posting. It’s hard to take pics of my own hands. I think I’m going to have to invite a mess of Boo’s girlfriends over to be models.

Rocky Horror Picture Show is going to be at the Tower for Halloween. My one and only true Boo would give her little pinkie finger for the chance to dress as Columbia and be there in the audience shouting back the calls to the screen. We’ll see if that’s doable.

Rob is recovering from a nasty infection in his wisdom tooth; the same tooth that is going away in a month or so with its 3 mates.

Japes is just enjoying each day as it comes. He’s the second most spoiled child I know.

Happy Wednesday M’dear, today is a good day.

It's always a bonus to work from home, especially in the winter. It's getting so cold Noni. I was wearing a warm hat to bed last night and refused to take it off this morning :)

When is Halloween? This is my 3rd Halloween in Bend and it's a shame that I still can't get into it yet.

October 31st -- All Hallows Eve, Samhain (in irish gaelic) is a fabulous holiday both the commercial and the spiritual. I'll tell a story or two about it in a couple of days.

Have you ever seen the very bad movie musical, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Hen-dear?

Oh! I have to know what size your head is, how many inches around? And your hands are small I'm betting, but how long from palm to middle finger tip?

Hehe, I'll make you warmies m'dear! :)

Noni - yeah I saw that picture once, when I was in college :) apparently it is a cult, isn't it? I don't understand why (ie the history), maybe I'll check out wikipedia, but hey, it must be fun for teenagers :)

Oh that's very sweet of you :) Actually I was thinking of going to Micheal's to learn knitting. Is it really hard? You think, a person who isn't good at sewing, can knit a hat? I've gloves, but I'm keen on hat and socks. Socks, I heard, is harder. hhhmmm... now I'm thinking :)

The casket tag bracelets were amazing, I'm not surprised they sold so quickly! I bet my daughter would wear one, crazy child that she is.

I did Rocky Horror shows back in the '80's. My friends and I would carpool out to Berkeley from the 'burbs, sing along, dress up, the whole lot, then go to the 24 hour donut place on University Avenue after the show. Those were good times.

Noni, can I learn crochet from you? Can you teach me how to crochet a warm hat? I've a small head (with peanut-size brain), so the hat should be quite easy to make, I suppose :)

I'll teach you to crochet and to knit Hennie :) I'd enjoy that very much! We can plan a date -- buy yarn and hooks/needles and monopolize the comfy chairs at a starbucks or something . . . email me directly dear and I'll send you my ph#. triskelions at msn dot com
